Fidgety Friday

Well, I made it, it is Friday, and ain’t no one gonna take that away from me!  The motorcycle is officially up and running, after a 1:00AM test run resulting in a 1:30AM IHOP visit, and a 2:00+ bed time for me and the mechanic.  So today…is a coffee kind of a day…I would like to start by saying, coffee is the nectar of the gods…just saying…and I’m tired enough that a Venti Pike Place from Starbucks isn’t even making me jittery…

Nope…in fact, I feel almost, nearly, practically human as long as I’m on this stuff…unfortunately I know that eventually the caffeine will leave my system, and I will crash.  I’m only hoping that I can make it through the day.  The coffee clears the fog, sharpens my wit (slightly) and makes me appear mildly more human.  As I swish the remaining coffee in my recycled-paper cup and hear the gentle sloshing below my cardboard cozie I can’t help but panic a little.  It’s almost gone!  Do I wait, and risk drinking it cold, but get that last shot of caffeine when I need it most?  Or do I finish it off, knowing that that’s it, the last of it, finito, done, ended, terminated, d-e-d dead…it’s like staring at my last meal at this point…

I swallow the last of the coffee in a fit of desperation…if it’s gone I can’t obsess over it anymore.  Goodbye my strong and bitter friend, I will write you a eulogy that would make even Hitler cry…

Well, that’s it for me, at least for now…unfortunately I’m thinking I probably won’t blog this weekend, unless it’s about my trip to Valley Fair, and it’d be a short, sweet, photo and probably nothing more than a quick caption as I will be laptopless until Sunday night.  Speaking of, I will also be scale-less until Sunday, meaning today’s weigh in is the LAST weigh in before Monday…and I’ll truly have no idea what happens to my weight until the moment of truth, yikes!!!!  Hoping that Monday shows at the MOST 169.0 (meaning a 1.2 lb loss) but I’d settle for 169.8 (25 lbs lost) in a pinch….that’s all for now…and as always, THINK SLIMMER!

Bike is done

So…tired…but the bike is officially rideable, so it was worth it. Downside is I’m trapped at IHOP with an over zealous waitress and have no end in site. Hoping to be home by 2:00 and in bed by 3:00…that keeps getting farther away.

The Great Salad Caper

I went to lunch today, as it was a Thursday and a good day to go to lunch, only to find my stomach growling louder than usual.  After much deliberation and soul searching, I chose to eat at the local grocery store’s deli, entrusting my stomach, my bowels, and my diet to food that had sat in a warmer for the past three to six hours.

One chicken thigh, leg and serving of steamed vegetables later, my monster was defeated and my stomach stopped growling.  My vegetable intake was still low however, so I decided to take it a step further, and get a salad from their opulent salad bar.  Two cups of spinach, a handful of ham, pepperonis, a pickle, some broccoli and cauliflower later my salad was the equivalent of the Taj Mahal of salads, only to be surpassed by a salad meal at a five star restaurant.

I returned to work with my bounty in hand, ready to make it through the rest of the day with my feast by my side, only to be thwarted by the most mischievous of all thieves…my husband.  I stopped by his desk to give him a soda I had picked up, and as I was grabbing the bag to put the salad back inside (salad had been on top of the soda) my husband picked up the salad and looked at me with those damn blue eyes and said “You got me lunch?  I love you” and proceeded to stare into the delicacy that had been my salad.

What could I do, with such hope and love in his eyes, but go grab my bacon ranch dressing that was nestled lovingly in the fridge, and a fork out of the utensil drawer, and bring them to him.  If that salad is the one thing that gets him through the night, then it was worth it I suppose…after all, there is always lunch tomorrow.

Truckin’ Thru Thursday

Well, last night was a HUGE success, and by huge I mean non detrimental to the big motorcycle project.  My hubby was able to get the engine to turn over (not start completely as we haven’t put gas in it yet), and the electrical is wired up, yay yay for blinkers, ignition and speedometer/gauge all working in harmony.  We’ll still have some serious steps tonight to make, BUT it is looking like if we push hard enough, tonight that beast (excuse me, mutant) could be up and running, which means we can RIDE to the twin cities for Valley Fair tomorrow night!

So let’s see, we leave tomorrow after work, come rain or shine, or a non functioning motorcycle.  My job tonight? Finish my painting as the bike is coming together.  Only two pieces to paint, touch up on the air box cover and a few more top coats on one small tin piece.  The process is actually kind of cool.  We wanted to preserve the aluminum base, which is rare for the V-Rod, so we used this stuff called Plastidip, coated it down like 3-4 layers, and then painted over the plastidip.  It can peal right off with enough convincing, and when it starts it peels off in sheets, like an epic sunburn…kind of…so here’s the “baby” at this point:

And here is what a v-rod starts looking like:

All I can say, is that looks like one mean mother 🙂  The silver tin on the front of the 2nd picture is missing in the red/black bike because the piece was still drying when I took the picture.  Hopefully tonight will be some badass pictures and videos…hopefully!
